Biography

Flautist Gina Gaul captivates audiences with tonal elegance, musical expressiveness and stylistic versatility. She gained international attention as a prizewinner of the Concorso Internazionale “Severino Gazzelloni” in Italy, where she received awards in both the flute and piccolo categories. This led to a release on the Falaut label; she was also featured in the “Rising Stars” series on NDR Kultur.

As a soloist, chamber and orchestral musician, her concert engagements have taken her to festivals including the Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival and the Rheingau Music Festival. She has worked with the hr-Sinfonieorchester, Staatsoper Stuttgart and Staatsorchester Braunschweig, and has appeared as a soloist with ensembles such as the Deutsches Radio Kammerorchester and Capriccio Dresden.

Chamber music is a particular focus of her artistic work, especially in the context of close musical collaboration with harpist Mónica Rincón.

Gina Gaul received her training from Prof. Andrea Lieberknecht and Prof. Davide Formisano at the music universities in Munich and Stuttgart, where she completed her studies with top marks. Further important artistic impulses came from Paul Meisen, Jean-Claude Gérard and Patrick Gallois. The piccolo flute became a defining part of her musical profile, not least through her work with Thaddeus Watson and Gudrun Hinze. She was also a member of the Gustav Mahler Youth Orchestra.

Gina Gaul is a cultural ambassador of Middle Hesse and performs on a 9k gold Muramatsu flute with a 22k headjoint by Rainer Lafin, as well as a piccolo by Anton Braun.
